What's On February 2017 in Liverpool?

 

There’s plenty for everyone to do in Liverpool this month, with events ranging from Netball Tournaments and ball room dance performance to comedic shows and art exhibitions. Take a look at what’s on offer this February…

 

Vitality Netball International Series – Netball Quad Series – 2nd February 2017

Held at the Echo Arena, international netball returns to Liverpool as the England Roses host the New Zealand Silver Ferns in the first ever Netball Quad Series fixture to be staged on home ground. After having narrowly lost the semi-final of the 2015 Netball World Cup against their rivals, the Roses are hoping for revenge in Liverpool. They will be back at the home of the 2019 World Cup to take on the team ranked 2nd in the world.

Anton and Erin: Swing Time – 4th February 2017

Anton du Beke and Erin Boag are dancing their way into the hearts of everyone with a fantastic show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Their performance will feature stunning new choreography, dazzling costumes, and a spectacular band performing timeless classics, such as ‘I Got Rhythm’, ‘Guys and Dolls’, ‘I’ve Got the World on a String’, ‘Moondance’, ‘Le Jazz Hot’, and ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’. With six world class Ensemble Dancers and the full 25 piece Manchester Concert Orchestra any attendees are in for a magical night.

Jack Whitehall: At Large – 5th February 2017

The multi award-winning comedian is back on tour with a brand new live show at the Echo Arena. Following his ground-breaking debut arena show, this will be the largest tour ever from one of the UK’s favourite comedy stars. Fresh from hosting the Royal Variety Performance and starring in A League Of Their Own, this is your chance to catch Jack at his best!

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra: Night at the Opera – 18th February 2017

Enjoy an evening of love, glamour, and tunes at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Nothing beats hearing the voice of a world-class opera star take flight in a great aria by Puccini or Verdi. With two well-known opera stars, plus Opera North’s new conductor and melodies you’ll love, the evening will be a real treat for all opera enthusiasts. Be enthralled by lyrics from the great tragedy of Tosca and La Traviata, and the romance of La Bohème, to the smouldering sensual excess of Samson and Delilah.

Liverpool International Jazz Festival – 23rd – 26th February 2017

Returning for its 5th year at Capstone Theatre, Liverpool International Jazz Festival is proud to present a mix of international headliners, free shows, and workshops. The festival will open with a set from MOBO award-winners Sons of Kemet and the following days will feature fantastic performances from artists such as Mammal Hands, The David Helbock Trio, and The Neil Cowley Trio.

Yves Klein Exhibition – 21st October 2016 – 5th March 2017

Take the opportunity to see the works of one of the most influential figures of the post war era before it moves on at the beginning of March. Klein’s career was marked by extraordinary creativity and his bold attitude to art and life influence later generations of artists. The exhibition presents around 40 major works ranging from pop and conceptual art to installation and performance art. The artist took Europe by storm by embracing all styles of art, such as painting, sculpture, performance, theatre, music, film, architecture and judo. Klein is also known for inventing his own colour, which was used across many of his works: International Klein Blue. Don’t miss your chance to see his major works together for the first time in the UK.

Tracey Emin and William Blake: In Focus – 16th September 2016 – 3rd September 2017

Discover fascinating links between Tracey Emin and William Blake, born 200 years apart, at the Tate Liverpool. The exhibition of the Tate collection demonstrates a shared concern with birth, death, and spirituality in both artists’ works. At the centre of the presentation is one of the most renowned artworks of the past 20 years: Tracy Emin’s ‘My Bed’.
